Description
FaySummer seeks an experienced music instructor to work during its eight-week summer camp program with children ages 3 to 15 years. The Music and Movement Activity Leader will spend the day running age-appropriate 45-minute classes for campers in classrooms and outdoor spaces around campus. The Music and Movement Activity Leader will plan, set-up, and run all activities while utilizing camp counselors to assist. Classes should be developmentally appropriate, inclusive, active, and most importantly, fun! There will be a continual rotation throughout the day of different groups and ages.  
 
Before the start of camp, the Music and Movement Activity Leader will assist the Camp Director with ordering supplies and planning programs in accordance with the camp's operating procedures, themes, and events. Staff training will take place during the week of June 16 in preparation for the camp's opening on June 23, 2025. When camp is in session, the normal work schedule is 8:15 a.m. – 4:15 p.m., Monday through Friday. The last day of camp for the summer is August 15.
 
Qualifications
Candidates must have a strong background of delivering music programs for children. Experience working with children ages 3 to 15 in a camp, school, or similar setting is preferred. The ability to schedule and supervise staff is required. Candidates are expected to be professional and have strong verbal and communication skills.
 
Responsibilities Include
  • Attending all required orientation and training sessions
  • Contributing to the design and implementation of the summer music and movement programs and events.
  • Interacting with staff and campers throughout the day to encourage community development 
  • Understanding FaySummer emergency policies and procedures, and providing instruction to staff and campers about these procedures
  • Providing direct care and oversight for camper and counselors during music and movement blocks.
  • Being knowledgeable about individual camper needs including allergies, medications, and special diets
  • Actively participating in all assigned duties and encouraging campers to participate in all activities
  • Modeling FaySummer’s standards of respect for all members of the community, dress code, good manners, kindness, and behavior; ensuring that campers understand and comply with these community expectations
