Description
This role will support students from all over the world as they participate in the FaySummer English Immersion and Academic Adventure programs. Students in the programs are between the ages of 10 and 15 and will reside on campus from Sunday, July 6 through Friday, August 1. All residential counselors are expected on campus on July 6, the program's arrival day.
During the four weeks of the programs, residential counselors will live on campus (housing and meals will be provided), and they will be scheduled to work two weeknights per week. During a weeknight, counselors will be expected to provide general camp supervision from 1:00-4:30 PM and then perform dorm duties from 4:30-9:30 PM (including supervising and running dinner and evening activities).
All residential counselors will be assigned to work half of the weekend days during the programs. When assigned for a weekend day, activities and dorm duties will run the entire day. A residential counselor will be present in the dorm each night to be available in the event of an emergency. The final schedule will be determined during pre-camp meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 19 years of age and working toward or with a college degree (preferably in education)
- Previous experience in a residential life program at a camp and/or school setting
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to run age-appropriate activities for 10-15 year olds
- High degree of organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to supervise complex operations
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Drivers license preferred
Responsibilities Include
- Contribute positively to the summer camp and residential life program, including educational, cultural, recreational, and social programs.
- Attend all pre-camp and in-service staff trainings, including weekly staff meetings.
- Supervise a group of campers during meal times and through camp activities during the day.
- Run activities and follow plans for weeknight activities and weekend trips
- Assume responsibility for the health and welfare of campers entrusted into their care
